This December, our Tumwater location will consolidating to join our store in Downtown Olympia. The Tumwater shop has been an amazing location to us for over 20 years. We appreciate all the support our Tumwater customers have given the shop over that time.
As a small token of appreciation, we will be giving 10% off tires, tools, and any soft-goods through our last month in Tumwater starting November 1st and ending December 5th.
Deschutes River Cyclery will continue to give you the same great bikes and customer service at our Downtown shop. We are excited for this move - having one shop Downtown will allow us to work more efficiently so we can better focus on our customers needs.

We love the Liv bikes and are excited to get them in the hands of women ready to shred!
For the month of May all of our current inventory of Liv mountain bikes will be 15% off.
To quote the Liv website:
"Liv is committed to the female cyclist. We offer the only comprehensive product collection designed specifically for female riders. Liv provides the best products to help you discover new possibilities through cycling."
In a recent review of women's bikes in Dirt Rag magazine - they quote Abby Santurbane, global category manager at Liv who says:
"Their bikes target women who differ from Giant’s ridership in their goals, the influences in their lives and how much they ride. Liv designs bikes “from the ground up” to fit the majority of women. Liv maximizes fit and comfort by keeping the rider centered over the bottom bracket, making the most of her (or his) natural strengths. The mountain bikes are all 27.5 and have seat angles around 73 degrees, notably slacker than most women’s-specific bikes. They also have proportionally shorter top tubes, slightly taller head tubes and shorter reach measurements compared to similar Giant models."
We specifically carry the Intrigue, the Lust 2, and the Tempt 4 in the mountain bike category and the Rove 3 in the gravel category. Come in to test ride any of our bikes and talk to one of our expert staff! We would love to help find the right bike for you.
We just got such a nice email from a customer of our Downtown Olympia location. They got a custom wheelset built by us, along with nearly a total restoration of their bike, which came out beautifully.
I finally took my bike out.
I forgot how responsive this thing is and how great it rides. Shifts beautifully and I’m oh so slowly adjusting to the brakes.
You did a bang up job with it and I thank you.
At a latter date I’m going to put some bar ends on it and maybe move the shifters inboard a touch. My big hands can interfere with the shift lever a some depending on what gear I’m in.
Again what a fantastic job you did, you should be proud."
We love hearing from our customers and want to make sure you are satisfied! Please feel free to drop us a line anytime to let us know how your bike is doing after any work.

About Deschutes River Cyclery:
We are a small, family owned business with two locations - one in Tumwater, WA and more recently, have opened a shop in the Downtown Olympia neighborhood. Our staff is fairly like-minded. We strive towards making our shop environment an inviting, and non-intimidating space for everyone. This includes a non-tolerance of sexist, transphobic, racist and hateful behavior. Because our staff is small, we work as a team, and are always trying to learn from each other and learning how to work better together. We are excited to expand and are seeking someone who not only will be an exceptional mechanic with great customer service skills, but will work well with our existing staff.
It's the start of the Fall weather, and that means Cyclocross season is here! There are a lot of great races happening in the greater Olympia and WA area this year that we are really excited about, including the Deschutes River Cyclocross Race happening just miles away from our shop in Tumwater!
Are you interested in trying Cyclocross or are in need of a race bike this year? We have a used 56" Cannondale CX bike in the shop now with disc brakes and a Shimano Ultegra group set that is in fantastic shape and looking for a rider.
We also have our Giant Revolt cross bike and Surly Cross Check in stock in full size ranges. The Giant Revolt can take up to a 700x50 tire for riding on any road you can think of and can be a great race machine as well. Surly's Cross check gives the rider a more forgiving ride with its steel frame, and with its ability to easily mount fenders and a bike rack, make for an extremely versitle bike for year around riding.
Feel free to stop by in person at either location to see if a cyclocross bike is right for you, or call with any questions you might have for us about sizing or price information. Happy Fall!
